Celebrated producer David Ebangit alias Washington has been a force to reckon with in the Ugandan music industry for the past 20 years.

Washington started out in 1997 with Bobi Wine's hit single ‘Akagoma’, and has since produced hundreds of monster hits.

In a bid to enhance continuity, Washington has advised new generation producers on how to make hits that will last a life time.

According to the legendary producer, being a producer is more than just releasing a hit song but how you package your work and how big of an impact it creates in society.

"You need to start chucking hits for the next 25 years for you to call yourself a producer. Being a producer is not just doing a hit song, does the work that you do help someone to be okay? I have been chucking hits from the age of 15. Real bangers that make money for everyone; for the artiste, the telecom company that is going to upload, the beer that is going to be drunk in the shows, the promoter that is going to make money from that sound that I produced to build a lot of things. Plus every person that is going to earn money from that artiste and from the producer,” he said.

"If you call up that artist and put up a show in Lugogo and people come, do you know what that is? It is God, because they are so many people getting blessed from just that sound that we both created," he added.

Washington also advised the producers to believe in God because he is the only one that gives power for people to work and showcase their talents.

"You have to fear God, respect the client and your job. You should also think about yourself because if you don't, no one will. They will just use you,” he opined.
