Top Ugandan vocalist Iryn Namubiru has sent out a word of advice to all young female artistes on how to survive in the industry.

The music industry in Uganda is so dynamic, and very competitive, with only few artistes making it big in the industry.

The journey to the top is not easy, with many opting to give up along the way due to the challenges.

Having been in the game for more than 20 years, Namubiru encourages young female artistes to stick to music, and hope for a breakthrough.

"These things happen but if you know what you want, stick to it because we have gone through that but look at the music alone. We have heard so many stories relating to sexual favours, but most producers who have been pointed out with such vices claim that there are many young girls who come with intentions of offering their bodies in exchange for hits.

"Most young artistes think you just wake up, sing become big and get money. You can have a beautiful voice but fail in music,” she said.

The 'Byansi' hit maker encourages them to stay focused, do practice and also listen to other artistes because perfection does not come in one day.

"We have beautiful voices and songs but you can't make it anywhere without morals. When you start attacking people and putting yourself up, you will never survive. Be presentable, keep practicing so that people will always enjoy you. Stay away from beer because it takes away your voice," she opined.
