The Ugandan national police has vowed to thoroughly investigate assault claims filed against veteran musician Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone by popular producer Diggy Baur.

Early this week, Baur came out claiming thay the Leone Island boss appeared at his studio, Sound Cava Records in Luwafu on Monday night and assaulted him.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman Patrick Onyango has requested Baur to make an official statement to help them investigate the case.

"We got a report from someone who claimed that musician Joseph Mayanja beat him up while they were in studio. The report was from producer Baur but he has not yet written an official statement or explained to us why he beat him up and to what extent. The case is currently at Katwe Police Station but we ask this producer to come and write a statement. He should not go with our reference and show it off bragging about reporting him, and asking Chameleone for money. We want him to come and we do a proper investigation," Patrick told journalists.

The cause of the fight is still unknown, but reports indicate that they have not been in good terms for a while now, with the producer accusing Jose Chameleone of failing to pay for the songs he has produced for him.
