Buju Banton released his new album ‘Upside 2020’ a week ago and with it a single titled ‘Blessed’. He has now released the video to the single.

‘Blessed’ is an inspirational single that speaks on different matters gratitude; loving one’s skin, bringing positive change where one can, being kind to each other and unity. It is one of the singles that escapes a little from Buju’s signature roots style; ‘Blessed’ takes on a faster beat progression and is pretty hard on the bass.

The video is pre-dominantly keen on showing off Jamaica and the people who are always there for each other. The video opens up in a pool bar with people talking about the different revolutions going on in the world and reinforcing the need for unity in the world. The video takes us through the story of how kindness trickles down from one person to the next and the cycle keeps going.

In true Jamaican style, the Dalia Dias video gives us a strong choreography in small doses well dispersed in between the Black Lives Matter movement videos and stills. And in true Buju style, the video plays well with playing with light and illuminating him against dark spaces.

This video speaks deeply into what is currently happening in the world and how black is beautiful and reminds you to travel to Jamaica when you can. Catch a vibe with Buju Banton on the ‘Blessed’ video and the rest of his album on all streaming sites.
