Burna Boy has been announced as the winner for the Best International Act category in the 2020 BET Awards.

The Nigerian singer beat other artists among them Congo's Innoss B, Sho Madjozi of South Africa, UK's Stormy and Dave among others to win the award for a second time in a row.

Burna Boy had won the same award in the last year's edition.

Announcement of the winners was done virtually due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

"@burnaboy takes home the award for Best International Act," BET tweeted.

Winner for the Best International Act category was announced by English actress, model and businesswoman Naomi Campbell.

"Thank you BET. For the second time I appreciate. I like to use this opportunity to say that sometimes around 1835, there was a mission to turn Africa into a dominated nation. Now is time to overturn and go back to the royalty that we were because in order for black lives to matter Africa must matter," said Burna Boy after he was announced the winner.

The BET Awards is an American award show that was established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television (BET) network to celebrate African Americans and other American minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year.

The awards are presented annually, and are broadcast live on BET.

The annual presentation ceremony features performances by artists, and some of the awards of more popular interest are presented in a televised ceremony.
