The recently concluded Zzina Awards continues to elicit mixed reactions among musicians and fans, with most giving their views on who deserved to get various awards.

Dancehall singer Cindy Sanyu started the debate around the awards, stating she was not bothered about what a panel of judges had to say about her since her fans already validated her.

The latest artiste to join the debate is John Blaq, who hit out at critics claiming that he did not deserve the awards he won, specifically the Best Male Artist of the Year.

In an interview, the 'Hullo' hit maker disagreed with his critics, maintaining that he deserved the award, since he has been working hard.

"Whom did they want to give it to? I deserve it and they gave it to me. I thank my fans and the organizers. What I want to tell people is you just have to keep on voting for that artiste you want to win. My fans voted for me, that is why I emerged the Best Male Artiste.

"I give props to Eddy Kenzo for winning the best artiste of the year. And I congratulate all the other winners," John Blaq said.

Over the past two years, John Blaq has been bagging several awards. He currently has over 30 awards from both local and international awards.
