Meet Sasha Vybz, the Man Behind Top Quality Music Videos in Uganda

Born Ian Akankwasa, Sasha Vybz is one of the best videographers in Uganda. To some people, the cinematographer is a measure of wealth among artistes. For an artist to hire him, it is believed that they have worked hard and earned some money because he does not come cheap.
Sasha Vybz spent three years in South Africa studying film and production but majoring in Directing of Photography at City Versity College, which explains his skills. Professional cinematographers like God Father and Clarence Peters attended the same college.
Sasha Vybz started directing in 2012 editing Rabadabyuah by Noise Preacher as his first video. Since then, he has never looked back. He now has hundreds of videos in his name, all characterized with a perfect picture, lighting and coloring.
Sasha Vyz has worked with both big and budding artistes in the industry including; Sheebah, Jose Chameleone, Bebe Cool, Nina Roz, Fik Fameica, King Saha, Pallaso among others.
In 2018, Bebe Cool flew Sasha Vybz to USA to shoot a couple of music videos like ‘Nsilikamu’.

His amazing talent has seen him receive several awards and recognitions that include; Best Video Director at the 2019 African Muzik Awards in Dallas, Texas, Club Music Video Award 2017, HiPipo Video Director 2018/19, Buzz Video of the Year 2016/17 and the Rising Star Video Director 2018/19.
He has also received recognition from CNN. In 2020, Sasha Vybz was listed among 2020 Forbes Africa 30 Under 30.
