Ugandan dancehall star Cindy Sanyu is the latest artiste to trash local awards.

The self-styled 'King Herself' had a good year in 2019, and to mark her success, in March, Cindy held one of the most sold out concerts in the country, 'Boom Party'.

With this huge success, Cindy now believes she is better than any local awards. The 'Run this City' hit maker, through her social media accounts revealed that she does not care about what a panel of judges thinks about her music, because her fans already showed her that she is an icon.

"Lemme tell you something real. 2019 was an amazing year for me. There is so much I found out about myself, my art, my fans and the industry and I am very grateful for the success I have achieved. I know exactly who I am in this industry and after the Boom party concert, I realized that Uganda knows exactly who I am in this region so I chose to believe 40,000 Ugandans than a few board members in an awards committee," Cindy shared.

In the recently concluded Galaxy FM Zzina Awards, Cindy emerged winner in two categories; Best Dancehall Song and Best Dancehall Artiste but in her statement, she clearly turned down the awards.

"Thank you but no thanks. Yours truly, Yours bluntly and honestly Cindy biabe. Definitely the King Herself," Cindy posted.
