Last month, a number of musicians blessed us with top tunes that cheered us up during this crisis period. Some of the songs did well and became hits in the country, while other others faded away due to lack of viewership.

This article looks at 5 new songs that became major hits in Uganda in May:

1. Nakyuka – Sheebah Karungi

Sheebah gave us 'Nakyuka' and it takes the number spot because it is an anthem both on radio and TV. In all this, we have Khalifah Aganaga to thank for penning down the beautiful lyrics. The audio was produced by Nessim Pan Production.

In May, Ugandan rapper Mungi Emmanuel Matovu commonly known as Mun G dropped his hilarious ‘Bintwala' (2020) hit single that has gone ahead to top charts. He released the official video shot by Zyga Phix in May and TV stations can't stop playing it.

3. Wakayima - Bebe Cool

Bebe Cool's 'Wakayima' also makes it to the list of the top hits in May. When you listen to it, you can't help but get on your feet due to the beats. The Afro-Dancehall song is a product of  Gagamel International studios, under producer Ronnie.

4. Mr. Incredible - Ykee Benda

Mr Incredible is a song that Ykee Benda uses to shower himself with praises. The two-minute audio was produced at his Mpaka Records studios, while the clean video was shot and directed outside Uganda by Moe Musa, one of the most sought after video directors in the African music industry.

5. Balance - Karole Kasita

When Karole Kasita released this single at the beginning of the month, she had no idea that it would go viral and get music lovers twerking in all corners. The audio was produced by producer TON and the lyrics are typical of Karole. The video may not be out yet, but the song is selling on media like hot cake.
