After Ghanaian dancehall artistes Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were banned indefinitely from participating in all aspects of the country’s foremost music award scheme, the Vodafone Music Awards (VGMAs), Stonebwoy has finally spoken about it. In a new interview, the Dancehall act, Stonebwoy has suggested that some artistes have seen their ban as a blessing for them because they now stand the chance to win in the upcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).

Per the decision, the two lost their legibility for VGMAs nominations, selections and performances. The decision was reached by the board of the award scheme following a brawl between the two feuding musicians at the 20th anniversary of the VGMAs in Accra, which saw one of them pulling out a handgun.

The Bhim Nation President said perhaps because of how he and his former arch rival Shatta Wale monopolized the award scheme for a long time, some artistes are happy they are no longer impediments on their way. “Some artistes have come to say it was a blessing in disguise for them because some of us are not on the wards with them because that is the only way they can prosper,” he said in a recent interview.
