King Kaka introduced us to one of the most talented vocalists in the country; Bridget Blue and she is back with a new single dubbed ‘Je’ to remind us that she has beautiful vocals.
‘Je’ is the single you want to listen to when you are breaking glasses, literally or figuratively after a heartbreak. Bridget Blue is questioning her vulnerability with this single; is it worth loving deeply yet knowing that it will end in tears as it always has?
Bridget has a very beautiful voice that seamlessly transitions into the most beautiful runs. So, for this single Musyoka has let her shine by giving it a very minimalistic almost acoustic beat. The single’s base is a blues rhythm and Musyoka layers it with an acoustic guitar riff and only adds some soft bass beat to it mid-song. Both the vocal and instrument arrangements are rich and impeccable.
The Trey Juels directed video is also quite minimalistic with Bridget Blue as the main focus and everything else is happening around her. Bridget is in blue against a black prop and behind her; glass is shattering, there is an emotive ballet dancer, flowers are raining, lovers are walking; everything but her seems to be a memory. This video really reads into the soul of the single.
