It has been a really long weekend and more so in the music industry; and on here we will recap all the gist; from the live shows to no shows.
Every weekend, Swizz Beats and Timbaland have been giving us what has now become the legendary Verzuz battles. Over the weekend, a lot of healing was needed and they gave us Kirk Franklin Vs. Fred Hammond. These two are the real OGs and shapers of Gospel music from it just being church but also pieces of art that can be consumed elsewhere. Their battle started off with a prayer by T.D Jakes and included cameos by Tamela Mann and some of their other collaborators. The two donned on ‘I Can’t Breathe’ tees in support of the BLM movement. Catch this on the Verzuz TV Instagram page.
This rolled over to the show being paused by players of the music industry. In essence, #BlackoutTuesday was the music industry support to the BLM protests going on in the USA following the racist police brutality. So, on Tuesday, the music industry went on to shut down a lot of services; streaming, selling, buying and all other transactions. This was a call to support the causes; donate for bail money for the protestors, funding the protests, defunding the police and all else pertinent to the protests.
From the inspiring show going on to the show being paused, it really was a lengthy weekend in the music arena. Keep staying safe.
