There is a lot of otherness that is happening in the world at the moment and it is without doubt that there is need for more art to celebrate this. This is exactly what Katy Perry is doing with her new single ‘Daisies’.
‘Daisies’ in Katy Perry’s (paraphrased) words is, “saying true to your course, whatever it may be and understanding that you are unique.” This could be a page from her story as she started out as a songwriter and the decided that she would try her hand at singing and she sounded too pop at her time but she stayed true to her sound and it has seen her top charts and have more artists in the rock scene channel her.
‘Daisies’ is put over a pretty calm pop beat; well calm in the context of Katy Perry. She lets her voice air through the single without too many explosive moments. There is a lot of serenity about her voice and a certainty that is a necessary emotion for this single.
The video is shot at a stream with Katy Perry showing us her belly as she is pregnant at the moment. She is also in a farm full of daisies and she is really glowing.
