Social media has today become a part and parcel of every individual who is into the entertainment industry.
For musicians, they use social media, that is Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and name them to popularize their projects.
Most of those projects end up on YouTube, an American online video-sharing platform, in which artists earn from them.
For YouTube, the more subscribers you have, the more the potential to make more money and the more popular you are.
We take a look at the 10 Nigerian artists with highest subscriptions on YouTube.
Naira Marley
Commonly known as the president of his controversial fan base ‘Marlians’, Naira Marley born Azeez Fashola has over 334k subscriptions on his YouTube channel.
The 26-year-old singer started his music career in 2014.
Rema
Rema who is barely 20-years-old has over 335k subscribers. The singer and rapper officially known as Divine Ikubor rose to prominence with the release of the song ‘Iron Man’ which appeared on former US President Barack Obama’s 2019 summer Playlist.
Runtown
Born Douglas Jack Agu, Runtown is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer who has been active in music since 2010.
His YouTube channel has 407k subscribers.
Kizz Daniel
Best Known for his singles ‘Woju’, ‘Mama’ and Yeba’, Kizz Daniel has 412k subscribers.
He is a singer and also songwriter who used the name Kiss Daniel before changing it in 2018.
Timaya
Inetimi Timaya Odon, better known by his stage name Timaya has 463k subscribers. He started his solo career in 2005 with the release of ‘Dem Mama’ song which also appeared on his debut album, True Story’ released the following year.
Olamide
The multiple award winning Nigerian hip hop recording artist has over 558k subscribers.
Officially known as Olamide Adedeji, Olamide records most of his songs in Yoruba, his native language. He released his debut studio album dubbed Rapsodi in 2011 followed by YBNL that was released under his record label YBNL.
Tiwa Savage
The multi award-winning singer, songwriter and actress who begun her music career doing backup vocals for artists such as George Michael and Mary J Blige has 602k subscribers.
She ranks among the most successful Nigerian artists.

Born Paul Okoye, Rudeboy used to be part of the music duo P-Square which he formed with his twin brother Peter Okoye. The two later disbanded the group and went solo.
Rudeboy also referred to as King Rudy has 709k YouTube subscribers.
Mr Eazi
Born Oluwatosin Ajibade, Mr Eazi who is also an entreprenue and pioneer of Banku Music, a fusion sond he describes as a mixtire of Ghanian highlife and Nigerian chord progressions and partners has 770k subscribers on his YouTube channel.
Mr Eazi is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer of emPawa Afica Foundation.
Burna Boy
Burna Boy who rose to fame in 2012 after releasing ‘Like to Party’ a lead single from his debut studio album L.I.F.E. has over 1.1 million YouTube subcribers.
The 28-year-old singer is among the very few Nigeria artists with over a million subscribers.

Wizkid
Wizkid who is officially known as Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun started recording music at the age of 11.
Commonly referred to as Starboy, his recording label, Wizkid has 1.18 million YouTube subscribers on his channel StarBoy TV.
Yemi Alade
This is arguably the most popular female Nigerian singer, based on her YouTube sibscibers.
Officially known as Yemi Eberechi Alade, the afropop singer and songwriter has 1.28 million YouTube subscribers.
Yemi Alade who has won several awards won the Peak Talent Show in 2009 and had a hit single ‘Johny’ that she released in 2014.
Tekno
His real name is Augustine Miles Kelechi. He has been active in the music industry since 2012 and his YouTube channel currently ranks among the top 5 most followed among Nigerian artists with 1.35 million subscribers.
