The Ugandan music industry is very dynamic. Each day, we get to hear a new song and watch a video that is probably better than our previous favorite one.

The songs that usually make it to the top do not normally come from already established stars.

Ugandans do not care if you are a budding artiste, as long as your song is a danceable vibe, or it is relatable to the situation at hand.

Since everyone is on lock down and not allowed to go clubbing, we have rounded up the list of the top five songs played in Uganda this month.

1. Ratata - Zex InchKumi Bilangilangi

By now, most of us are familiar with Zex Inchkumi Bilangilangi from Bobi Wine's Firebase music camp. He deserves the spotlight and the number one spot for his love song Ratata, that has been playing on our screens every minute. Produced by Nessim, Ratata is a Ragga/Dancehall song and it comes off Bilangilangi's 2020 album dubbed Yo’ Alubamu with a number of features to be released.

2. Free Boy and Winnie Nwagi - Kwata Essimu

Swangz Avenue's Winnie Nwagi teamed up with West Nile RnB star Free Boy Adams for 'Kwata Essimu' that has since gone viral. In this song, Free Boy calls out Winnie Nwagi for refusing to pick up his phone calls after spending his money on her.

The song is a blend of lyrics in Luganda and English and has a feel good vibe that will get you up on your feet doing the traditional Kiganda dance. The audio was produced by Andy Music and the video is not yet out.

3. Jose Chameleone - Baliwa

Despite having dropped in February, Baliwa has continued to dominate the airwaves mainly because most people relate to the lyrics. 'Baliwa' loosely translated to 'Where are they' appreciates all the hustlers who have made it big in life.

It is the kind of song you can play at the comfort of your home after a long day of hustling and it actually gives you hope for a better tomorrow. Jose Chameleone’s ‘Baliwa’ comes off his ‘The Chameleone I Know’ album. It was produced by Baur and the video shot by Zyga Phix.

4. Sizzaman, King Saha and Weasel - Kimuli Kyange

Kimuli Kyange is a typical love song with the artistes praising their new girl. It reminds us of the late Mowzey Radio thanks to King Saha who comes through with the smooth vocals. The audio was done by Genius Goddy and Mastered by Bless Touch. The clear video was shot and directed by Carlos in the UK.

5. Daddy Andre and Angella Katatumba - Tonelabira

On Valentine’s Day, former lovers Daddy Andre and Angella narrated to us their love story in a simple song titled 'Tonelabira'. Although they broke up, music lovers still jam to this perfect love song. The song was written, recorded and produced by Daddy Andre.
