Ugandan veteran artiste Moses Ssali alias Bebe Cool in March unveiled his multi-million music studio dubbed Gagamel Records with equipment that he shipped from the US.

Bebe Cool has finally narrated what inspired him to start the music studio with these expensive machines.

In an interview with Citizen TV, the Gagamel International boss revealed that the hardships he went through while he was trying to break through the music industry, inspired him to start the studio to help struggling young artistes.

“I opened up the Gagamel studio to help the young talent. I had a good chat with the president because I've gone through a lot of troubles during my career and I know where the young talent will have the trouble. To assist them access the highest level of recording, the best camera cheaply so they can be able to fairly compete with the top artistes in Africa.

“Basically it is not about Bebe Cool but the rest of the young talent that will get access to studio, big producers, the best hardware and software in the world so that they can make use of it to compete in the industry," Bebe Cool said.

He noted that he wants to improve the quality of music coming from Uganda, in a bid to make Ugandan songs competitive across the world.

“I went through the trouble of having music that I thought was good but yet when you compare our sound to the songs that are being consumed, the quality of music in East Africa has been so bad in a very long time.

“My first time to get a big song, 'Love you Every day', was when I worked with Sony in the UK. From that time, I started to understand the reason the songs in East Africa don't go beyond the world. When I came for Coke Studio in Nairobi, I also sealed that issue. It is so important for us to mind about the quality of the music. A song will not go far because people may throw it out because of the quality," Bebe Cool opined.
