Celebrated Ugandan female rapper Mirembe Recheal popularly known as Recho Rey, has revisited her past and divulged how much she was paid for her first major gig.

In a post on social media, Recho Rey who broke into the music scene in 2018, with her version of the Feffe Bussi's 'Who Is Who' challenge, noted that she earned a mere 50,000 Ugx from her first show.

She noted that despite earning such a little amount, she did not give up on her dream to be one of the best female rappers in the country.

Two years down the line, we believe that she is currently one of the best female rappers in the country, and definitely earning more than what she got during her first gig.

The debate on what artistes earned from their first shows was ignited last Friday, after former TV personality Sheilah Gashumba claimed that her former employer NTV Uganda was exploiting its workers.

In a series of tweets, Sheilah claimed NTV Uganda pays its employees peanuts, yet it subjects them to a lot of work.

Her online rant created a debate on what employees of different sectors are earning, with upcoming Ugandan artistes joining the trend to decry low earnings in the industry.
