We all love when black queens make a comeback after a while of silence. Brandy is back on her business as is apparent with her new single ‘Baby Mama’ featuring Chance the Rapper.

‘Baby Mama’ is a single about independent single women who are raising their children without needing any help from the deadbeat fathers in their corner. We all know that Brandy has been a single mother to her look alike daughter for the longest time so she must have an idea of what being an independent single mother is all about.

Brandy, on this song unpacks on the role the people in her corner have played in raising her daughter and how that translates to other single mothers too. Chance the Rapper on the other hand calls out the deadbeat fathers who now see the women they abandoned thriving and doing good without them.

The single is laid on an RnB beat that is amplified by pre-recorded instrument arrangement of a marching band. Brandy, being the queen of vocals, layers on this arrangements with great harmonies both higher notes and underlying notes to back up the chorus.

The video is set in an open/warehouse space that depends on lights lit to bounce off on purple/pink colours that are quite calm. Brandy is baked by an army of women for the video and a sideshow of disgruntled men. Brandy and the women dance through the song bringing in the flavor to the video.
