Bensoul has not been letting us forget that he is real smooth this quarantine/lockdown season. He continues to invade our spaces with his soulful voice courtesy of his new single, ‘Peddi’.
We all know that Bensoul loves his weed unless you don’t follow his ‘Munchies Monday’ series on his Instagram so a song with such a title was honestly long overdue. Peddi is Bensoul bringing to us love served on an Escobar title in the paraphrased sense of, “if you are looking for someone to bring you love, I am ready.” In this single, Bensoul is being dreamy about his love interest and he is in a way ready to risk it all to be quarantined with them.
Bensoul first stepped onto Sol Generation territory as a writer and so his lyricism and writing skills are undeniable, even on this single. Bensoul brings together different styles to create ‘Peddi’. He has great poeticism with the alliteration, he brings soul to the song with some deep lyrics and elevated by his voiceand he brings a sense of gengetone with reference to paraphrased lyrics from artists of this category; it is pure genius, his writing.
The video is shot at one place and uses the trick of colour and lack of it thereof, different styling of Bensoul’s wardrobe and silhouette shots. The RKay directed video maintains a calm to it that is necessary for the audio; it is a good marriage between these two.
