Artist of the Day: Namba Nane's finest, Octopizzo!

It really doesn’t matter where you started or where you are right now, what matters most is where your going. And who better to make that sentence come alive than someone who has been through it all? Ask Octopizzo.

Hailing from the humble Kibera slum residences, the young talented artiste dared to dream and started by founding the group YGB(Young Gifted and Black); a collage of artistic minds who took the harsh daily life by the horns. It is later on, that he sought a solo carreer.

Octopizzo went on to share the stage with international artists such as Dead Prezz (U.S.A.), Black Twang (U.K.), DJ Trouble Maker (U.S.A.), Bunt Face (U.S.A./Ethiopia), Malikah (Lebanon), Le Melanina (Colombia), Mad Maxamon (Germany), Restley Perez (Philippines), and Anne Khan (Germany). That's just to name but a few.

Tell me this doesn’t stink of success? Infact, he drips of the word with every step he takes to and from the studio. All his songs ever since “On Top” have been nothing less than perfect 10’s.

In “Mama” he was able to capture the emotional half of her crowd and in “vowels” he proved he is a true lyricist. Just recently he dropped his album, “Chocolate City” that finaly earned him local respect and international recognition.

Like any journey to the top, he met some bumps along the road and opposing forces. A natural force any object in motion has to meet and overcome; Physics clearly states. He had a bone to pick with fellow Hip hop artist, Khaligraph. One of the most heated beefs in Kenyan music history, which later came to melt away due to time.

Now this emperor of Kenyan hip hop music has a mixtape on the way and for this one, you would need to be more than prepared. You need to be counterintuitive because it will simply blow you away!

Titled "Read BetweenThe Rhymes", Octo is set to release a collabo with Future Andre 3000 and Ice Prince that promises to leave everyone wanting more. The first video off the mixtape is set to drop this August on Octo's birthday and will feature MI from Nigeria.

Through his official facebook page Octo says no one saw this coming, if you ask me, I think it's about that time you shifted gears. "It's Namba Nane Versus Everybody"

Download more of his music right here on Mdundo as we all await the release of his mixtape.
