Rose Muhando Eulogizes Late Rev. Rwakatare in New Song ‘RIP Mama Gertrude Rwakatare’

Veteran Tanzanian gospel singer Rose Muhando has released a new song eulogizing the late Rev. Getrude Rwakatare.

The song dubbed ‘RIP Mama Gertrude Rwakatare’ seeks to celebrate the achievements of the leader who died on Monday 20, April 2020 at the age of 70.

The seven-minute song tells of the void left behind by the veteran leader with the whole nation in mourning.

“Pumzika kwa amani mama Rwakatare...pumzika kwa amani...nenda kwa amani...mayatima wanalia tumpate wapi mama... waimbaji tunalia tumpate wapi mama… pale tulipotoka ulitutia nguvu...pale tulipoanguka ulituinua” sings Muhando.

This song a classic Muhando production that is high paced despite portraying a somber mood.

The use of the guitar and the piano is constant as Muhando sticks to her traditional style of gospel music.

Notably, the chorus also features Muhando crying, hence propelling the message of the song further.

Rwakatare is a notable Tanzanian preacher who has held other positions of leadership in the past.

She was a politician and Member of Parliament appointed in 2007 by Jakaya Kikwete, Tanzania's president.

 She was also the head of Mikocheni B Assemblies of God, a Tanzanian Pentecostal church connected to the Assemblies of God Tanzania.
