Who is Feffe Busii

Mukiiza frank popularly known by his stage name Feffe Bussi is a Ugandan award winning rapper, singer, songwriter, stage performer and a recording artist. He was born on December 9th, 1993. He studied at Cityland College Matugga in Kampala for his high school. For his University, Feffe Bussi confessed that he enrolled at university but never stepped foot at the institution although he used to lie to his parents that he was a student of Mass Communication.

He instead spent this time in studios in Makindye, recording songs and working on his music career. As time went on, he was housed by fellow rapper, Gravity Omutujju until his hustle paid off and finally disclosed to his family members that he was actually not at the university.

History behind His Stage Name

Appearing at an interview with the Daily Monitor in 2017, he disclosed that his stage name comes from his childhood nickname. "There are some words that children cannot pronounce and mine was fenne (jackfruit), so instead of saying fenne, I called it feffe and instead of mubisi (raw) I said bussi. That stuck as my nickname for long and so when I started doing music, I decided to use it as my stage name,” he divulged.

Music Career

Feffe Bussi has been in the music industry for close to seven years now. He realized that he wanted to do music in Form five when he started mimiking G.N.L Zamba's songs. This gave him confidence in music, releasing his first song ‘Summertime’ in 2013, but he was still not popular.

His major breakthrough came in 2015, thanks to his hit ‘Nsekula’ which featured already established female artiste Sheebah Karungi from Team No Sleep. In 2016, he released another hit single ‘Yes No’, which endeared him to the Ugandan audience. In 2018, he cemented his position as one of the best rappers in Uganda when he released, 'Who Is Who’; a song that became such a big deal in the industry, awakening a huge Hip hop movement in Uganda. Many rappers jumped on the beat to explain their talent. Feffe Bussi says he released 'Who Is Who' to awaken rappers after he realised that Ugandan Hip hop was losing popularity to dancehall music.
