Young rapper Shafic Walukagga commonly known as Fik Fameica has joined the list of artistes asking government for financial assistance during this quarantine period.

Appearing in an interview, the self-styled Fresh Boy revealed that since they are currently not holding any concerts, yet they are doing a big job in COVID-19 awareness through their music, they should be supported financially.

"Artistes do not earn much in Uganda. In fact in other countries, artistes are given money. Not in a bad way but the government should come out and give artistes some money in this situation we are in. We are not working," he said.

"The best way I can help is pass information about the disease to the people because it is a gift. In other countries they pay for it. Artistes can decide to fold their arms and just look on. The government is then left with a huge load of passing the message to the people below. We as artists are doing a good job and our message can easily spread to the people. We just need to be supported,” he added.

Among activities that came to a standstill due to the outbreak of the corona virus are concerts and musical shows planned by several artistes across the country.

Different artistes lost a lot of money, because to some, this was their major source of livelihood.

Many came out crying to the government for help, but they were quickly bashed because the pandemic was affecting everyone else.
