TPF6 officially kicks off, meet the contestants
15 October 2013
Tusker Project Fame 6 had its official launch over the weekend and despite a few hitches including microphone failure it turned out to be a phenomenal premiere with great performances and new faces at the academy.
Mdundo-signed artist Eric Wainaina set off the show by performing his hit song Daima, which also featured on mdundo’s TOP25 songs this week, alongside the angel-voiced TPF6 voice coach Kavutha.
Eric will feature on the show this year as the principle of the academy. Dr Mitch Egwang and Joey Muthengi will be hosting the entire season.
The 18 contestants from six countries namely Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda and South Sudan were narrowed down to only 15, who would go into the academy to compete for the coveted prize.
For Tanzania the show kicked off to a sad note as two of its four contestants were eliminated before they could join the academy.
This year’s contestants include Phiona and Patrick from Rwanda, Hope from Burundi, Bior from South Sudan, Angel and Hisia from Tanzania, Jenipher, Mishel, Amos & Josh, Fess and Sueoncey from Kenya. Others are Derrick Kojo, Undercover Brothers, Daisy Ejang and Sitenda Kisakye from Uganda.
