‘W’ is a short song and story at that that speaks on black excellence at an individual level and taking the gang-gang with you.
Tory Lanez on this song is rapping over a trap beat. It is slow and almost sounds like a remake/sample of a beat from an old school hip-hop song. The song is slow-paced which allows Tory Lanez to be very deliberate with his delivery and punch lines and gives him a lot of space for articulation.
Tory Lanez speaks on black excellence and the joy of being at the top, a place initially left for the white people. He speaks on having the people who strived with him on top with him. He also gives us a story into his journey to success; from living in the projects to where he is now. Through the video, we watch him cruising through the streets and living large with his crew.
