Putting together a song from scratch is never a walk in the park. It takes a lot of commitment, effort and many sleepless nights.
Even the best of the best at times struggle to write those lyrics and before a song comes out, be it an audio or video, then, be sure a lot of energy has been put into it.
One of Nigeria’s fast-rising musicians Emeka Akumefule better known as Blaqbonez has come out to admit that he needed help, at some point, when working on his latest hit ‘Haba’.
Blaqbonez dropped a video for the new song last week, on Friday, and it hit the ground running immediately as it was the number one video on apple’s hip hop chart within an hour of its release.
However, behind the scenes in making the song, ‘Haba’ will surprise you.
According to the singer who was named among the new guards of Nigerian music in 2019 by the New York Times, ‘he got stuck’ while recording the hit song and it’s his fellow musician Oxlade who came to his rescue.

Blaqbonez, while sharing a screenshot of his chart with Oxlade said the Lagos-based singer gave him the best melodies for ‘Haba’.
“While recording Haba, I got stuck and I went to my go-to guy @oxladeofficial for help, and he gave me the best melodies on the song. I call you the Greatest for a reason. LOVE YOU ALWAYSSSS. while you guys hype me, please say something nice to him for me too,” he posted on his social media pages.

Replying to the post on Instagram, Oxlade said; “Lmao blaq....you put me on bitch ...I’d do anything for you.”
‘Haba’, an exclamation of disappointment or astonishment is a fusion of Afro-pop and hip hop.
