In the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic, prices of most items especially retail across Uganda continue to rise.

In view of the above, Ugandan artist Ykee Benda has joined the list of people speaking out on the unnecessary price hikes that have stopped the common people from getting accessing basic needs like sanitizers, and other disinfectants that help prevent the deadly COVID-19.

In a post on his social media handles, the Mpaka Records Boss called upon Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to intervene.

"Your excellence @KagutaMuseveni we need help with these retail shops ....With everything that’s happening why are they increasing the prices of utilities yet their very customers are the people who are out of work due to the Covid-19. Please kindly help the less privileged." Ykee shared, also comparing our economy with Rwanda.

"On a serious note Kagame stopped this in Rwanda just a week ago...This is a time that we as Ugandans should try and keep everyone afloat" Ykee said.

Meanwhile, legendary Ugandan Jose Chameleone over the weekend purchased sanitizers and handed them over to the public for free.

During the act, he too begged the president to intervene on the prices of these items which are shooting through the roof.

So far, Uganda has one confirmed COVID-19 case.
