Tanasha Donna has set a new record in the African music scene thanks to her new hit ‘Gere’ featuring her boyfriend Diamond Platnumz.

The song which premiered on Wednesday morning hit one million views YouTube in record fourteen hours, making Tanasha the first female musician to achieve that fete.

In an Instagram post, she appreciated her fans and thanked them for making ‘Gere’ go viral within a short period of time.

“Woke up feeling amazing. Legendary Swizz Beats vibing to GERE and hearing that I broke a record as the first African female artist to hit 1M views in 14 Hours on YouTube. God is good and so are you all for supporting this,” she posted.

'Gere' loosely translating to 'Jealousy' is a refreshing combination of Pop and Bongo with a touch of classical. This release comes in the same week as Diamond's breath taking performance at the Koroga Festival in Naivasha, Kenya.

Diamond and Tanasha have been dating for about 2 years and were blessed with their first son, Naseeb Junior in November 2019. They have since not had a project together and this raised eyebrows.

Since Tanasha launched her music career, she has not been signed to the great Wasafi Records Label as most people assumed would be the natural course of their business and personal relationship.
