Burna Boy has insisted that apart from Fela or his family members, no one can claim to pave way for him on his musical journey.
While being accused of being proud by fans online, the singer has come out strongly to defend his remarks that Nigerians should emulate him as the continent’s future depends on the strength and resilience he shows.

Burna Boy has been trending on Twitter after he claimed to be the best since Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, in a series of tweets that he posted on Saturday.

“You’re following them to rejoice and wish me bad. You say, ‘thank God he didn’t win’ Because I say the truth and because of your twisted fake views on humility,” he tweeted.

In a series of Instagram posts by Seun; son of the late Fela Kuti, he had serious remarks to pour out on music artists who claim they hit the limelight alone without help. He revealed how his record label tried to “silence” him to the extent that they “secretly decided” to not submit the album from 2017 - Black Times, for the Academy Awards.

He added that he got to be nominated on the shoulder of the great African artists who came before him, many of them in his own band. The Grammys reached out to him after the entry period had closed. They said they wanted to know why he had never entered his albums and especially the Black Times album.

He also commented "I couldn’t believe what I was reading! The rest they say is history! Those that have all the support from corporations, especially the people who, because I fight for them, even my record company tried to silence me, they say they do it alone. I just have to smile!”
