South Africans know what it means to cater to whatever mood of music there can be and still not lose their originality. Prince Kaybee, Shimza, Black Motion and Ami Faku have just reminded us that in their new single ‘Uwrongo’.

Ami Faku presents to us a new side to her singing away to the quietness of the beat of ‘Uwrongo’ in the same stillness to her voice. The instrumentation sounds like a mix of Kwaito and rhumba; you get the elements of rhumba from an electric guitar that is heard in different successions through the song.

The video is a journey in itself; the use of nature and all its physical attributes to the earthy tones in the mood of the video and everyone on there literally moving. The director uses earthy colours in the shade brown to create a grounded mood for the video as is fitting for the stillness of this song. The men in the video are dapper than dapper and they move in their classic car raising the elegance bar even higher. Ami dresses in some earthy colours and even the pop colour in some scenes almost escapes the eye.

‘Uwrongo’ is the song you want to your Sunday playlist for that stillness and quiet, catch a vibe.
