Popular Tanzanian musician Rayvanny has released a new song ‘Africa’ condemning xenophobic attacks being witnessed in South Africa.
In the song produced by Justin Gachi John, Rayvanny urged Africans to live together as brothers and sisters, despite coming from different countries.
“You don’t realize how badly you have been treated, until someone comes along and treats you the way you should be treated. People say walking in water is a miracle, but to me, walking peacefully on earth is the real miracle.
“If we don’t end fight, then fight will end us. Back in the days I remember Mandela said people learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, then they can be taught to love. Please say no to xenophobia,” the song’s lyrics read in part.
His song comes amid a public outcry over the targeting of foreign nationals with businesses and investment in South Africa by locals.
Reports indicate that the violence has been caused by angry youths who don't have jobs and somehow think that foreigners are to blame for their plight.
