'Jeshi' La WeN Taking Over

By Kabura Ng'ang'a

WeN has released a new song titled ‘Jeshi’ together with its visuals. The song has greatly borrowed from the roots genre of reggae as is Wen’s style of music.

Jeshi is about a revolution that the musician feels necessary if the country is to move forward. She talks about the class disparity between the rich and the poor in the country and the wrongs in governance that have aided it. Jeshi is to essentially mean that the governed are tired and at a point they will rise and the revolution shall be televised.

Befitting the song, the video is shot in the ghetto and Wen starts a march that has more and more people joining in, as is the title of the song. She has borrowed snippets of Mwalimu Nyerere’s speeches on the disparity between the rich and the poor urging the government to work for the people to change that disturbing fact.

Check out this revolutionary piece by Wen and maybe, jiunge na jeshi la WeN.
