Mdundo Awards nominations

Rabbit, Octopizzo, Jaguar, Sauti Sol and Jay A lead the nominations lists with three nominations each in the much awaited Mdundo awards scheduled for 1^st May, 2014.

The newly introduced Mdundo Awards is an award show to acknowledge and celebrate the most downloaded songs by artists and groups in the Kenyan music industry.

The artists will battle it out in 7 categories which are; the overall most downloaded song, the most downloaded song by a male artist, the most downloaded song by a female artist, the most downloaded song by group, most downloaded Local Pop song, most downloaded Hip hop song and the most downloaded gospel song.

In the overall most downloaded song category; Kibera’s self proclaimed finest rapper Octopizzo will battle it out against Jay A, Sauti Sol, Rabbit and Kioo hit maker Jaguar.

In the most downloaded song by a male musician; Octopizzo with “stay so fly” will also face off with Jay A, Rabbit, Jaguar and gospel sensation Bahati.

Talented gospel artist Bahati with his hit single “Machozi” will be gunning for the most downloaded gospel song although he will be coming up against veteran gospel musicians like Juliani, Rufftone and M.O.G

The most downloaded Hip hop song category is expected to be a fierce contest with all the big boys including Octopizzo, Rabbit, Jay A, Khaligraph Jones, Kanana, Mejja, DNA, Kidis, Kenrazy Ghipuka, and Grandpa’s Majirani all nominated.

The awards ceremony will take place at the Mdundo offices along Ngong road and it will be an invites only affair.
