In the male dominated Hip hop scene where very few ladies take up the risk of venturing into, phoenix records artist Sugar is coming out strong and clearly stating that she is in the industry to stay and empower fellow femcees.
Having released the video to her debut single 'Do It Like'recently, she raps about female rappers like Brat and Lauryn hill that she attributes to have inspired her music career,
“ Do It Like is about the female MC’s I admire in my music career like Lauryn Hill, however I grew up listening to the likes of pioneer Kenyan hip hop greats like Kalamashaka, Chiwawa and Ukoo flani Mau Mau and they have also inspired me a lot,” she shared with Mdundo
The entire video is shot indoors with the rapper doing her thing in a sleek black car; and her prowess and excellent delivery definately put her a bar above any other Femcee in the industry.
“I am working on a new single which will be out in the next three weeks and I am also putting final touches to my album which will drop next month to coincide with my birthday,” she added
