Octopizzo's We Are One well-timed!
25 September 2013
Kibera bred rapper Octopizzo seems to be always having something up his sleeve only to retrieve it when much needed.
In what can only be described as proper timing, the rapper over the weekend shared a link on his social media pages directing to a song he previously was featured by African artists; Chefs Special and Dr Eppy tittled ‘We Are One’.
The song came up a few hours following the terrible Westgate Mall Attack that has left the entire country shaken as 10 of civilians were killed and others injured by suspected terrorists.
It coincided with an online campaign by Kenyans under the hashtag #WeAreOne to help victims of the attack and encourage Kenyans from different backgrounds to join hands against a common enemy; the Al-Shabaab. However, its publication date on YouTube reads September 3rd 2013, two weeks before the attack.
“There is war worldwide. In Syria, Iran and now even in Kenya. We Are One encourages oneness no matter where you come from. We need each other, that’s the main idea of the song,” Octo told Mdundo yesterday.
The song was recorded and video shot earlier this year but remained unpublished until last week.
