TANZANIA: Popular Rapper Arrested For Being In Possession Of Drugs

Tanzanian rapper, Rashid Makwiro 'Chid Benz' is back in police custody. This is after he was arrested on 30th December 2017 for being in possession of drugs in Dodoma.

This will be the third time the rapper has been arrested for the same crime. The rapper's wife and two other male friends are also facing possible jail terms as they were arrested together.

As he was speaking to the media, the police commissioner of Dodoma, SACP, Giless Muroto has confirmed the arrest of the rapper and said;
"Ni kweli Chid Benz mnamo tarehe 30/12/2017 tulimkamata akiwa yeye na mke wake na vijana wawili. Tumemkamata akiwa na dawa za kulevya zidhaniwayo kuwa ni heroine. Jalada lake lipo tayari kwa mwanasheria wa serikali linafanyiwa uchunguzi na muda wowote watapelekwa mahakamani."
