KENYA: Meet Krew Storm Music | A New Wave Of Gospel Artists Infiltrating Christ Through Hip Hop

Meet Krew Storm Music, a Christian hip-hop trio that is set to take the Kenyan gospel music scene by storm with their new video “Turn up the lights”.

The group comprises of Jessy Ledama aka Jayliste a pianist, Brian Kirui aka Kolil and Caleb Mogi a producer and songwriter respectively who met in back high school. Through their friendship and having the same interest musically, Krew Storm Music was born.

“Turn up the lights” is the kind of song that captures one’s heart and emotions through with its lyrics and melody. The beat is captivating and will make you want to play the song again and again.

The sound is soul refreshing and the message has been clearly brought out.

The Kenyan gospel industry continues to experience a new wave of artists who are breaking away from the hymn type Christian music.

We are living in times where almost every music genre has been incorporated in the gospel music industry and hip-hop is one of them.

Krew Storm Music sets off to join the long list of internationally celebrated Christian Hip-Hop artists like Lecrae, Da’Truth, Trip Lee, Mag44, Pompi and so on.

Although the worldview on this type of music has been unwelcoming with quite a number of critiques from faith-based institutions regarding it as rather detrimental to the Christian doctrine, the trio has chosen to look at the brighter side of things and is well groomed to carve this niche.

This being the type of music that influenced the most part of our growing up, we felt it would be the best and most appropriate way for us to minister, and communicate the word” Jayliste quotes.

The audio was recorded at Urban Scorch Records and the visuals directed by Nezzo Monts.

Krew Storm Music is now on the verge of spreading the gospel around the globe and is also primed to be the next big thing in Kenya and beyond.
