Khaligraph: Too much competition killing rap

Spitting hard on beats as one would lay cement between bricks for a firm structure, Khaligraph is still potent to compete at the highest levels in Hip Hop despite of him noting that too much competition is killing rap.

While speaking about Mariga Money lyricism, the Kayole bred rapper insisted that competition, as evidently shown in the industry recently, is healthy but too much of it is killing talent especially on the present generation of rappers trying to make a break through.

Having been in the rap game for a few years now, Khaligraph noted that while ambition maybe the driving factor, competition should not override it.

“Being a competitive rapper that’s a drive and regardless of what you do your shine is your shine, although too much competition is killing rap in Kenya. The thrown belongs to no one in particular that’s why we shouldn’t focus more on competition,” Khali told Mdundo.

On the track, Mariga Money, the rapper appreciates all those who were before him and those making returns through art. He mentions the likes of Nameless, Wyre Genge artist Frashaa, radio personalities and how their hard work has paid and only wishes he gets to eat the fruits of his labor.

“…I wanna be Wyre, Nameless, Prezzo na Frashaa me nataka do nina na family so lazima ikuje faster…” opening line on the second verse.

Khali has been working on a few other projects including nurturing young upcoming artists and in particular female emcee Cashy Karimi. Together they have done a few tracks including ‘’Reaching Out’’ and a few others yet to be released.

“I want to introduce new talents especially Cashy who has shown unbeatable skills in her. We have done a few tracks together in addition to helping her do some singles. She’ll be very ready for the game soon,” Khaligraph noted.
