KENYA: Madonna Faces the Wrath of Kenyans After Her Comments About Kibera

Over the past weekend American pop star Madonna jetted into the country and no doubt she expected a warm reception, which she got from the people of Kibera where she has spent most of the week visiting.

However the same could not be said when it came to Kenyans on social media. In fact Kenyans have spent the most of the week attacking the super star celebrity on Facebook over her comments about the water source of Kibera slum.

Now allow me to take you back to the genesis of the problem. Madonna who has been in Kibera all week promoting humanitarian work by Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO) in the slum, posted a photo of the Nairobi River in Kibera, which most of you already know is filled with all manner of garbage, and claimed that it is where the people of the slum get their water from.

"Imagine this is where your water comes from! Shining Hope for Communities is working to change this in Kibera, Africa's largest slum,” she wrote.

This it turns out Kenyans did not take too kindly and so they began bashing her for these comments. Check out what some had to say;

To this time the singer is yet to respond to the comments and it remains unclear whether she will issue an apology of any kind.
