UGANDA: Janzi Band fills Thursday gig slot

Janzi Band has filled up its Thursday gigging timetable with an appearance at Diner’s Lounge in Bukoto. The live music outfit was in the past performing at Big Mike’s on Acacia Avenue as a replacement to Lilian Mbabazi after the latter took a sabbatical to prepare for her concert last year. Janzi has packed out regular performances at Zone 7 in Bugolobi and Pyramids Casino on Yusuf Lule Road. The band boasts a hybrid repertoire comprising notable covers and cuts from its ethno-pop discography. It recently replaced former lead vocalist Brian Giddy with up and coming solo artiste Jacintha alongside Pages, one of the shining singing lights at last year’s Coca Coca Rated Next singing competition. The band boasts a fine set of instrumentalists; Valeur Kalinda (drums), Allan Okia (bass), Trevor Tugume (keyboards) and Hakim Kiwanuka (percussions). Weekends see them booked out for weddings, which has made them a firm favourite for couples saying their nuptials. Download Janzi Band's music soon on www.mdundo.com.
