KENYA: Kenya's First Pro Lesbian and Gay Rights Music Video Featuring Popular Female Rapper and Socialite Will Leave You Speechless [EXPLICIT]

And now let’s switch to matters taboo. To many the topic of Lesbian and Gay rights in this country, nay in Africa is considered a sin, perhaps even ranked up there among ‘do not kill’ and ‘do not sleep with another man’s wife’.

Many believe that the situation remains this way mainly because we keep hanging on to our traditional African beliefs. In some African countries lesbians and gays are considered criminals and face the threat of jail time should they be exposed therefore most have been forced to remain in the closet for their whole lives, safe for a few who are brave enough to come out and protest for their rights.

In the West, this continues to remain an important topic of discussion which is even propagated through the movies and music coming out of Hollywood. Through these means they’ve been able to curb the negative tension surrounding the gay and lesbian community, to most of them now it is considered natural (non-taboo).

However not many in Africa in the music or film industries are willing to propagate this topic into their works.

But Kenyan rapper Art Attack has come out with a new song and music video dubbed ‘Same Love’, which seeks to raise awareness to the struggles of Lesbians and Gays all over the continent.

The song is a remix of MacLemore and Ryan Lewis’ original song dubbed ‘Same Love’ which is also a pro-LGBT song.

The video which was shot over a period of one month and features some popular lesbian and gay figures in the African continent, the likes of celebrated author Binyavanga Wainaina, iconic singer Miriam Makeba as well as Kenyan gospel singer Joji Baro.

Popular upcoming rapper Noti Flow and socialite Solia Cole who recently came out and are known to be dating also feature as some of the main actors in the video.
