‘Yo ga’ in Yoruba language is directly translated as ‘he shall excel’

In the second stanza, Asake uses the Yoruba pronunciation Yo Ga, which may actually mean I’m going to excel and nobody can kill me cos I’m on my way.
So we can safely the song is mostly in Yoruba

‘Yo ga’ is a deeply spiritual song, which speaks about inner peace, it speaks about self love and self satisfaction. If the song was a status, it would say , ‘do not disturb’ so I guess you get the gist?

Inner Peace being the major theme of the song. Asake talks about Ewe (away) which refers to weed. People take weed to escape a bad state of mind, in order to experience maximum peace.

In the intro, Asake samples a Mauritian song Mo Capitaine by Michel Legris
… He then widely uses Senegalese cultural visuals through the video, and blends in Yoruba lyrics. And this is the recipe of an amazing African cultural, spiritually uplifting song.

Overall, the song is a beautiful fusion of different African Cultures, Instruments, and, well, Asake himself.
