KENYA: 'Visita' Appointed Grandpa Records Vice President
18 February 2016
GrandPa records C.E.O and creative director Yusuf Noah aka Refigah Heviweit last evening hosted a dinner-cum-press conference for the Grandpa family at Vila Rosa Kempinski. It was at this dinner that he announced the appointment of the first ever Grandpa Records vice president-Nickson Wasonga Nickodemo, popularly known as Visita. The appointment came as a shocker even to the multitalented producer and recording artist himself. 'Visita is a selfless hard-working artist fully committed to The Grandpa government and has all the leadership qualities I would look for in someone to succeed me after my retirement in five years. I have all the trust in him and he definitely deserves the appointment as my deputy' Said Refigah.
Visita's journey has been long and hard. He first shot to fame when he featured in the monster hit 'hivo ndo kunaendanga 'with Majirani and Kenrazy. He also featured in randa randa by Mr. Lenny and later Dumbala remix with Jay A and a couple other artists. He also collaborated in the track ‘Shilingi Yangu’ with DNA and Kenrazy. He came to demonstrate his best virtue -patience-with his solo project 'Mapepo' whose video was shot over five times, each time facing different challenges that kept pushing the release date further and further. The project was finally completed and became a monster hit from the day it was released, sweeping across the country and beyond!
His efforts have not gone unnoticed as the multi-talented producer won Bingwa best new artist of the year 2014.His productions have also added on to his accolades with songs such as Dawa ya moto which featured world-wide sensation Sauti Sol winning Bingwa song of the year 2015.He later partnered with Kenrazy making up a duo by the name ‘Shida mbili’ and together they gave us two amazing songs: ‘Sexual fever’ and ‘Asubuhi’. He also won Bingwa song writter of the year 2015 for his song ‘Mapepo’.
Grandpa records Head expressed confidence and trust in his new deputy saying that being as busy as he is,sometimes traveling and having to be away from the studio for weeks he can rest assured that Visita has all the business handled and nothing can go wrong.
He went ahead to say that he had observed him for many years and noticed that he was always ready to assist especially in dealing with artists. He would take his time to get an artist’s song exactly where it needed to be; from the song arrangement to how they needed to sound. It’s because of all this that Grandpa Records CEO felt he was the best candidate to be working with not only as a producer and an artist but also a stake holder. He further adds that the appointment is actually long overdue. Congratulations to Visita.
