Parking Lot Grass surprise fans with a genge-rock fusion track
29 January 2014
Just a week after announcing their separation with their band lead singer Raphael Sipalla, Parking Lot Grass are at it again and this time it’s not their usual hardcore metal sound, they chose to give fans an element of their diversity by fusing genge and rock and the unthinkable fusion sounds amazing.
The group somehow covered P Units mega hit Kare, creating a totally new breed of Kenyan rock. Finding words to put into description how out of the box and phenomenal the track Is to me is proving tricky but I can assure you that straight from the beats to the guitar fusion you will be blown away to some extent even loving this version more than the original.
"The track was a pilot on a project proposed by the guys at Andromeda Studios where we're recording our album. They pitched the idea to us and we felt it would work well. We also felt that it'd help bridge the divide that currently exists between other genres in Kenya and rock. So in a way, it was a way to get a wider audience listening to rock and metal in Kenya." shared one of the band members during an interview with Mdundo.
The band which has been in existence since 2010, have broken grounds for the rock scene in Kenya particularly standing out for their amazing twist of mixing a local touch in their music by use of Swahili, becoming the first band to ever to perform at the 49 Degrees Metal Zone festival in Germany .
