HIPHOP TUESDAYS: From 'Lupita' to 'Kidero Grass' C2K and Kagwe Mungai Strike Gold

It might be illegal to step on Kidero’s grass, but I guess singing about it isn’t. Yes, you read that right a song dedicated to Kidero’s famous grass is out, but before you come to your own conclusion about the name you should probably hear what I have to say first.

I imagine C2K, the artist behind this song, probably studied music and possibly majored in ear-worms because three days after listening to this song and I still can’t manage to get this song out of my head.

It was the same when he dropped one of his first jams, in fact the one that made him famous, ‘Lupita’ I can still hear his voice echoing in the back of my mind ‘…Lupita Nyong’o…Lupita Nyong’o’.

Since then C2K probably caught an obsession with singing about personalities because he never stopped. From ‘Baba While You Were Away’ (about Raila Odinga) and now Kidero, but weirdly enough this strategy keeps working wonders for him.

The crowd at Bacchus Lounge kept chanting the hook during the audio release party and he and Kagwe got a standing ovation from some of the crowd at the PMVA 2015 on the same night.

Word has it Kidero himself was really impressed by this song after his representative, who was among the crowd at the PMVAs, alerted him about it.

His strategy is slowly working and C2K keeps getting love from trap music lovers across Kenya. But no need to take my word for it, download the song (for free) here and come to your own conclusion about it.
