JEFFSPORTU Bridges Continental Grooves and Global Appeal into Afro-Fusion and Soul-Jazz Masterpieces
22 October 2026
Edowmwonyi Jeffery, professionally known as JEFFSPORTU, is a recording artist and multidisciplinary creative from Benin City, Nigeria, born and raised with deep Nigerian and Ghanaian heritage. Drawing from the rich cultural influences of both sides of his lineage, his artistry blends contemporary African rhythms, futuristic soundscapes, rich percussion, and compelling storytelling.
Operating under his enterprise Areagrims, JEFFSPORTU approaches music as part of a much broader artistic vision. His creative practice extends into filmmaking, acting, and digital media, allowing him to build an immersive visual and sonic world around his work. His sound moves fluidly across genres, bridging continental grooves with global appeal while maintaining a strong, rhythm-driven foundation.
Music, to JEFFSPORTU, is an exploration of love, ambition, resilience, the human experience, and the pursuit of dreams. This is fully realized in his four official releases now streaming on Mdundo:
˚ "You Are My Sunshine" - A soulful love track combining sophisticated piano soul-jazz chord progressions with warm Afro-fusion rhythms.
˚ "Tututatala" - A vibrant Afro-fusion and dancehall journey driven by intricate string arrangements, melodic bells, and deep sub-bass instrumentation.
˚ "I Will Take You Away" - A romantic, travel-inspired anthem that transports listeners on an emotional melodic journey.
˚ "Juice" - A high-energy, infectious vibe designed to captivate listeners with driving grooves and polished independent production.
By combining organic percussion, expressive songwriting, and modern experimental dimensions, JEFFSPORTU is carving out a distinct artistic voice in the independent music scene.
