Kariokor Estate\flats has been on the limelight for several decades now. From the state controversies it had with NHC and NCCK to being "Obama's chillspot in his youth" to being a prime destination for video shoots, one can agree that this is one location that literally lives in the limelight.
The area also has a few unknown stories like when it habored the current president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame (Baba Angel) among others.
It has produced shoot locations for STL's Biacara, Bad as I wanna be & Shut it down, Juacali and Mejja's Bongo la biashara, Lyrical Erico's Back it and whine, Black Duo's Rap kwa MIC, Kambi Nyeusi's rusha, Kevohyout's several songs among many other widely known hit songs.
Aside from being a destination for music videos, adverts and movie shoots, it has also birthed national celebrities who have even represented the country in other countries. Some of the celebrities coming from the estate include Louie Otieno, Kristoff, P.R.O, Jimmy and Nyosh Gathu, Dj Nicho (USA), Tiger Power (Kenyan Weightlifter and stuntsman), Mandela Otieno (East and Central Africa's Dunk Champion 2013), Tim Adeka (STL's Manager & Producer) and now another hitmaker rises from the vintage neighborhood of perpetual grace.
The new talent goes by the pseudonym "Awore". He has been in the underground hiphop industry producing for artists such as EMC (TZ), Oksyde, Washamba Wenza (Smallz Lethal, Flames & Kev mamba), Evaredi, Seddy Pendo and Super concaves among many others.
He has now decided to work on his own solo career as an artist in the mainstream market.
