Kenyan-born artist Ian Kibe is flying his motherland’s flag high in the US where he lives with his plausible hip hop music.
Kibe’s journey into music began during his high school days, where the magnetic pull of hip-hop's storytelling and intricate wordplay ignited a passion within him. Influenced by luminaries like Tupac, Nas, and Capital Steez, he saw hip-hop not just as music, but as a vessel for his deepest emotions and thoughts.
It wasn't until November 2020 that the US-based Kenyan artist took the plunge into music creation, armed with a deeply burning desire to tell his story just like his American hip hop idols.
Kibe in his first trials discovered that he had a reflective talent in music bringing out his genuine personality, which resonated with listeners on a profoundly personal level.
He expresses his feelings, thoughts and experiences with hip hop lovers in a charming way making his music relatable and authentic.
"My music is different from others because it is authentic, my music is a sum of how I feel, think, and act. My music reflects who I am and I can say I’m a unique individual, more of a revolutionary than anything but my goal is to empower you and make you feel good about yourself and vibe," he tells Pulse Kenya.
Through collaborative projects like 'No Title' with his friend Blurr, Kibe showcases a distinct sound that resonates with audiences, further cementing his place in the competitive landscape of the U.S. music industry.
Despite the challenges that come with navigating the music industry in the West, Kibe remains focused and determined to rise to the top.
His ultimate goal is to showcase Kenyan talent through his music and create an avenue for more artists from Kenya to collaborate with American artists.
