Nigerian Queen of Afrobeats Tiwa Savage has been featured on the ‘Waiting In Vain’ rendition by Bob Marley & I The Wailers.
The late Bob Marley, a global reggae icon wrote this song in the 70s and officially released it in 1977 off his ‘Exodus’ album.
Over four decades later, it remains one of his most famous songs and there is now a rendition to the classic to keep his memories alive.
The song's inclusion of Tiwa Savage gives the classic reggae tune a modern and new spin.
She brings her collaborative charm in the song, her mellow voice transcending the whole record.
Tiwa gives ‘Waiting In Vain’ a chilled and relaxed demeanour throughout the record, thanks to her smooth grooves and soothing vocals.
This comes shortly after performing at the coronation of British monarch King Charles III on May 7.
The ‘Koloba’ singer becomes the first Nigerian to perform at such an auspicious event at London’s Westminster Abbey.
She performed ‘Keys to the Kingdom’, and Naija industry lauded her for making such a selection and delivering it flawlessly.
With her inclusion into the Bob Marley and I The Wailers project, she joins a few self-styled African artists featured in classic renditions on songs done by Bob Marley.
Just recently, Rapper Sarkodie from Ghana made an appearance on the version of ""Stir It Up"" by Bob Marley & The Wailers.
The roles Tiwa Savage and Sarkodie played on Bob Marley song remakes show how music can transcend genre and time.
These renditions deliver classic songs from the past to a new generation of listeners while also giving contemporary performers a chance to honour the greats who came before them.
