The passing on of South African rapper AKA is a huge blow to Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy who has paid a glowing tribute to the deceased.

AKA was shot dead in Durban on February 11, during his birthday. In his tribute, Burna Boy went down memory lane recalling how the two became friends.

The deceased often regarded the ‘Last Last’ hitmaker as wild after a hangout where AKA spotted a gun belonging to Burna Boy.

They would click and the African Giant temporary moved to South Africa and did a three-songs collabo with AKA.

These songs include Paid, Baddest and Me. However, the xenophobic incidents in South Africa in 2019 that resulted in the looting and burning of numerous foreigners' businesses and properties, sowed a bitter social media feud between them and it eventually strained their relationship.

Burna Boy referred to AKA as "retarded" and warned that they would fight if they ever met.

Following his death, Burna Boy felt remorseful that AKA died from a bullet. He said that although they had their differences, he never wanted him dead.

He called for a probe into his murder and subsequent arrest of those involved.

“But I didn’t want you dead, it was like that with me and you. Wicked! I hope they catch whoever did you wicked. I hope you rest in peace, even though we ain’t kick it,” his tribute read.
